Every year, the Board of Directors hosts the OSTA-AECO Student Trustee Alumni Leadership Award Gala to celebrate the leadership, innovation, cooperation, and perseverance of Ontario Student Trustees, and announce the recipients of the annual Student Trustee Alumni Leadership Award. This past year marked OSTA-AECO’s 15th anniversary, with the annual gala commemorating the organization on its decade and a half of existence.
Last year, the gala was held at the King Edward Hotel on Saturday, May 26. Student Trustees and guests heard from keynote speaker Dominic Giroux, President and Vice-Chancellor of Laurentian University. Attendees had an opportunity to network with current and former Student Trustees, as well as other guests including Trustees and Directors of Education.
In addition, at the Gala, two $1000 scholarships towards the pursuit of post-secondary education are awarded to Student Trustees who demonstrate exemplary leadership, innovation, cooperation, and perseverance. Check out the Scholarship page for more info!
The night also featured the presentation of the Ontario Student Voice Awards. The awards recognize student achievement across Ontario and award those who have demonstrated outstanding contributions within their local schools and communities.
We look forward to welcoming back many of our Student Trustee alumni as well as supervisory officials, Trustees, and Directors of Education from school boards across the province at this year’s Gala. More information regarding the Gala can be found here!
